Japanese game company salary ranking Sony first, Nintendo third

Japanese software development company SalesNow recently released a ranking of local game companies based on average annual employee revenue. Nintendo ranks third among game developers on the list. Notably, Square Enix (SE) failed to make it into the top 20.

The list is based on the statistical period from June 2024 to June 2025, and the data comes from SalesNow, one of Japan’s largest enterprise information databases
DB, which covers about 5.4 million enterprises. According to a SalesNow press release, the database integrates business registration, real estate registration, tax disclosure, the Japanese Government Gazette, and public data from government agencies and companies. Therefore, the relevant data may differ from the company’s official disclosure.

The rankings are as follows:

1. SonyGroup 11.13 million yen (about 538,000 yuan)

2. Bandai Namco Holdings 10.95 million yen (about 531,000 yuan)

3. Nintendo 9.63 million yen (about 467,000 yuan)

4. Sega Sami Holdings 8.79 million yen (about 424,000 yuan)

5. Akatsuki 8.56 million yen (about 409,000 yuan)

6. DeNA 8.54 million yen (about 409,000 yuan)

7. Capcom 8.33 million yen (about 402,000 yuan)

8. Koei Tecmo Holdings 8.11 million yen (about 388,000 yuan)

9. GungHo Online Entertainment 7.5 million yen (about 359,000 yuan)

10. Bank of Innovation 7.42 million yen (about 359,000 yuan)

11. Crooz 7.29 million yen (about 352,000 yuan)
