Japanese fear manga master Junji Ito won the American Comics Oscar Eisner Award

Today, July 26, the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, known as the Oscars of comics, were presented to Junji Ito, which is also the most powerful award this year since Junji Ito won other awards four times before.

The Eisner Award is a comic book award named after American cartoon master Will Eisner (1917-2005), founded in 1988. The awards recognize creative achievements in the comics industry, and the ceremony was held during the San Diego International Animation Con (Comic-Con) in the United States and was dubbed the “Oscars of the comics industry”.

In the past, Junji Ito has won different awards for the event four times, winning the Best Manga Adaptation Award in 2019, the Best Asian Work Award and the Best Author Award in 2021, and the Best Asian Work Award again in 2022.

Congratulations to the master for finally completing his career, and so far the only Japanese masters who have won this highest honor are Osamu Tezuka, Hayao Miyazaki, Nozomi Hagio and Keiji Nakazawa.
